Our camping trip to Picacho Peak!

As all of you know, I am right in the middle of the holiday rush and working like crazy so a couple of weekends ago my husband and I took our kids camping at Picacho Peak in Tucson Az. to take a break and spend time with family. It was SO much fun! We invited my parents to come along in there RV and we took out our travel trailer. We had been “preparing” our kids for hiking for about a month before the trip and they did so well! We got there at night, just in time to see the sunset and as someone who wants to live in the few moments that the sun sets, I can honestly say that it was breathtaking!

This cellphone picture just can’t do the colors justice!

We got our water packs all packed up and filled up for the next morning and as soon as we were all away we set out on our first hike! The first hike of the day was a kids hike, not hard at all but filled with signs for Kayla to read and lots of “habitats” for the girls to look at! ( Kayla has been learning about habitats at school so this was so much fun for her)

At the very end of the kids hike was a little cave with an amazing view over the park.

Obviously we had to take a family picture!

After the kids hike we started the trail up to the peak, it was HARD! Kayla climbed the mountain like it was nothing leaving tom chasing her and my dad, Hailey and myself in her dust! When I say it was a hike I mean it was so steep that we had to use cables to pull ourselves up a different points and climb steps that were almost as tall as Hailey!

We only made half way before we decided that it was getting to hard for the kids(and ourselves…shhh…) and we took the time to enjoy the view!

After our LONG day of hiking we went back to camp to hang out with my parents, light a fire and make some Smores.

We all had so much fun camping in Tucson and it was a much needed break from real life. If you are ever looking for a great camping location that is family (and pet) friendly you should definitely look into Picacho Peak! You won’t be disappointed!
